Our principles
Homore wants everyone to feel safe sharing renovation experiences, contacting firms and exchanging views. These guidelines draw on the community standards of international social platforms, adapted to renovation and home services in Hong Kong.
These guidelines apply to everything you post or send on Homore, including posts, comments, diaries, unboxings, reviews, ratings, portfolios, case studies, product listings, private messages, estate groups, display names, user IDs and avatars. They form part of the Terms of Use.
- Real: share your own experience and label content honestly.
- Safe: never endanger anyone’s safety, property or privacy.
- Respectful: disagree if you like, but do not attack people.
- Private: protect yourself and others.
Share authentically
- Share only your own experience; say clearly when you are relaying someone else’s.
- Label content accurately: never blur real site photos with renderings, concept images or AI-generated images.
- Clearly disclose any partnership, sponsorship, discount, gift or other benefit from a firm or merchant (for example, label it “partnership” or “sponsored”).
- No fake reviews, fake likes, saves or follows, engagement-swap groups, or multiple or fake accounts.
- Do not impersonate any person, firm, Homore staff member or official account.
Respect others: no bullying or harassment
Criticism is fine, but address facts and issues, not people. The following are not allowed:
- insulting, abusing or mocking someone’s appearance, identity or circumstances;
- threats, intimidation, blackmail, or claims you will harm someone or their property;
- repeatedly messaging people who do not want contact, or using another account after being blocked;
- calling on others to pile on, spam or harass any user or firm;
- publishing someone’s private conversations or screenshots to shame them.
Reviewing businesses: fair and factual
You can share positive or negative experiences with firms, merchants and services; it helps other residents. But reviews must:
- be based on your own genuine experience;
- describe concrete facts (such as dates, works and what was said) rather than personal attacks;
- separate fact from opinion, without exaggeration or fabrication.
The following are not allowed:
- fabricating or distorting facts, or spreading unproven criminal allegations;
- maliciously attacking, smearing or disparaging any firm, merchant or their staff;
- threatening a negative review to extract a refund, discount or other benefit;
- writing negative reviews for a competitor, or reviewing at anyone’s direction;
- publishing the personal phone number, address or other personal data of a firm’s staff or workers;
- reviewing the same experience repeatedly from multiple accounts.
Firms and merchants may reply to reviews publicly and politely, but must not threaten, retaliate against, harass or dox reviewers, and must not offer money, discounts, gifts or other benefits for positive reviews or for removing reviews.
Homore does not adjudicate factual disputes between users and firms. Reviews are the personal opinions of their authors, who are responsible for what they say. Homore may temporarily hide disputed content while reviewing it and has the final decision on whether it stays, is edited or is removed.
Hate speech
Do not attack, demean, exclude or incite hatred or discrimination against anyone based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, illness, age or other protected characteristics.
Violence, dangerous and unlawful activity
- Do not promote, glorify or incite violence, terrorism or organised crime.
- Do not buy, sell or promote prohibited goods, weapons, drugs or counterfeits.
- Do not encourage or teach dangerous or unlawful works, such as removing structural walls without approval, building unauthorised structures, doing unlicensed electrical or gas work, or removing fire safety installations.
- Do not offer or facilitate fraud, money laundering or other unlawful activity.
Nudity, sexual content and child safety
Do not post nudity, pornography or sexually suggestive content. We have zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation or anything that endangers children; it is removed immediately and reported to law enforcement.
Privacy and doxxing
- Do not publish anyone’s name, phone number, email, address, flat number, identity card number, licence plate, photos or other identifying data without consent.
- Cover personal and flat details before sharing quotes, contracts or receipts.
- Only upload photos or videos of people with their consent, and photos of someone else’s property with the owner’s consent.
- Do not secretly film or share images of other people’s private spaces.
Disclosing someone’s personal data without consent may be a criminal offence under the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
Intellectual property
Only upload content you own or are licensed to use. Do not repost another firm’s portfolio, photos, drawings or articles as your own. If your work is infringed, report it or email us.
Spam, scams and manipulation
- No mass repeated content, irrelevant links or unauthorised advertising.
- No fake offers, fake payment links or phishing sites to obtain money or data.
- No manipulation of rankings, recommendations, ratings, engagement counts or reward calculations.
- Do not steer users off the Platform for scams or deals that evade Platform rules.
Self-harm
Do not promote or encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call 999.
Misleading information
Do not spread false or misleading information that could cause harm to people, property or money, such as false building safety, regulatory, price or product information.
Reporting, enforcement and review
If you see content that breaks the rules, use the “Report” option next to it. If you no longer want contact with a user or firm, block them. We aim to take initial action within 24 hours, prioritising serious or potentially unlawful content.
Depending on severity and repetition, we may remove or hide content, issue warnings, restrict posting or commenting, suspend accounts, permanently terminate accounts, withdraw creator status, badges, rewards or rankings, and report to law enforcement.
If you think an enforcement decision is wrong, email homore.hk@gmail.com within 30 days of the notice, explaining why, to request a review.
Homore has the final decision on whether content breaches these guidelines and on the resulting action.
Updates
Homore may update these guidelines at any time and will announce material updates on the Platform. Continuing to use the Platform after an update takes effect means you accept it.
